The Acorn Electron Plus 3 is a 3.5" disc upgrade for the Acorn Electon. The Plus 3 has a WD1770 disc controller and ADFS file system in ROM.

  1. The front view of the Plus 3 shows the connector which plugs straight into the expansion bus on the back of an Electron. The 3.5" disc drive is on the right.
  2. The top view of the Plus 3 also shows the connector and the L shape of the Plus 3 which fits round the Electron
  3. The right view of the Plus 3 just shows the side of the disc drive.
  4. The back view of the Plus 3 shows the connector for a second disc drive on the left and the connector for a Plus 1, or Slogger ROMBox onthe right. Both connectors are covered by plastic protectors.
  5. The left view of the Plus 3 shows the socket for the 21 V AC power supply. When a Plus 3 is fitted the Electron runs of the more powerful Plus 3 psu rather than the Electron psu.
  6. The bottom view of the Plus 3 agains shows the connector to the Electron, expansion bus and 2nd disc drive.
  7. The open view of the Plus 3 shows the psu on the right, the expansion bus in the middle, the ADFS and WD1770 ICs and the Chinon F353 floppy disc. A HiRes version of this picture is available HERE .
