Acorn Launches Lotus Challenge Acorn Computers has teamed up with Lotus Cars to launch a major new promotion at the Ideal Home Exhibition aimed squarely at the Consumer marketplace. It runs between 15th March 1993 and 31st August 1993. Customers can test their skills in a special competition version of the popular game Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 and will get the chance of winning one of a limited set of 1/36th scale models of the Lotus Elan or Esprit. Four regional winners will receive a trip around the Lotus factory and a chance to try out the new Lotus Esprit S4. They will then go forward to the national final where the overall winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to the Italian Grand Prix in September with a special pass to the Lotus Formula 1 Team pits. To coincide with the Lotus Turbo Challenge, Acorn is producing a limited edition A3010 Family Turbo Pack which contains an A3010 32-bit RISC computer, the Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 game, a Quickshot joystick, one year's on-site maintenance and #200 worth of software discount vouchers, all for #499 (including VAT). Acorn's Consumer Sales and Marketing Manager, Richard Percy said "We have lined up a fantastic first prize at the Italian Grand Prix. Inevitably there can only ever be one overall winner, but in this competition there are well over 1,000 other prizes for those entrants who are able to demonstrate their skills in this highly stimulating computer game."
