Acorn Sponsors 'Micros for Special Needs' for Third Year Running Acorn Computers, the leader in special needs computer equipment, is once again sponsoring this year's 'Micros for Special Needs' Exhibition. Acorn will also be exhibiting its latest range of hardware solutions in conjunction with a number of associated software developers at the show, which takes place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham from 6th - 8th October 1993. Sponsoring the exhibition now for the third successive year, Acorn's name has become synonymous with special needs computing. The Cambridge-based supplier has worked closely in partnership with the community for many years, and its innovative range of 32-bit RISC computers is acknowledged by the vast majority of software producers to be the hardware platform most suitable for the special needs arena. Peter Talbot, Acorn's General Manager, UK Education, explained why Acorn computers have become recognised as the obvious choice in this area: "As the leading supplier of computers to schools in the UK, we work closely with all sectors of the education community to ensure that, as far as possible, our products really do match the needs of each and every user. The built in features, such as stereo sound, which come as standard in all Acorn computers, mean that schools can successfully integrate special needs solutions within an overall classroom IT strategy, rather than having to address such requirements separately. "The benefits of this are quite clear, and consequently the range of special needs applications now available for the Acorn platform is far wider than on any other machine. Given that Acorn is once more the name that links so many of the exhibitors at this year's 'Micros for Special Needs', sponsoring the show again seemed the natural thing to do!" Besides supporting this exhibition, Acorn Computers will also be sponsoring the Special Needs Village at BETT '94, which takes place between 12th - 15th January 1994 at Olympia, London.
