News from Acorn Computers - Release Date: 4th November 1994 Acorn's Christmas Bonanza ------------------------- Announces 100 pounds off A3010 range - world's lowest priced 32-bit RISC computer --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Acorn Computers Ltd, the world's first supplier of 32-bit RISC personal computers, has announced across the board price reductions of up to 25% for its popular range of A3010 computers, as part of its extensive pre-Christmas sales push. The scheme will allow customers to buy the powerful 32-bit machine, together with a range of software, for as little as 299 pounds including VAT. The three software bundles available with the A3010 - Action Pack, Early Years and Learning Curve - are designed to meet 'edutainment' and home computing needs. Mike O'Riordan, Sales and Marketing Director at Acorn Computers, comments: "Parents often end up spending a lot of money at Christmas on games consoles. This Christmas, in the same price bracket, parents can offer their children the full benefits of a proper computer which can play games, run educational and business software and print to a printer. The advanced 32-bit technology in the A3010 also means that the graphics capability is often better than that of the games consoles. For parents who do not want to buy a monitor, the A3010 can also plug into the back of a normal television set. Nowhere in the market is there better value for money." ACTION PACK Featuring five popular games titles, including Zool and interactive demonstration versions of Lemmings, Chuckrock, Superpool and Fervour, the Action Pack's spectacular graphics and sound effects will guarantee hours of entertainment. Children will be pleased with the availability of over 200 other games titles, while parents will be reassured by the inclusion of word processing, creative painting and drawing programs and an audio training tape. The Action Pack now retails for 299 pounds including VAT. EARLY YEARS Early Years consists of a selection of innovative software programs for children aged 3 - 9. The programs include: Talking Start-Write, a talking word processor which speaks the words written on the screen; talking books such as "Doris the Dotty Dog" to help children learn to read; painting resources packages and maths and educational 'look and learn' type exploration games, such as "Flossy the Frog" and "Mouse in Holland". The total value of the Early Years software if each package were bought separately is over 200 pounds. Early Years now retails for 399 pounds including VAT. THE LEARNING CURVE This pack allows parents to support and assess their child's education, with a variety of imaginative and interactive 'edutainment' titles ensuring children have fun while they learn. Acorn's Advance program integrates word processing, spreadsheet, database and graphing applications, ideal for study and project work, styling club newsletters, writing personal letters and maintaining household accounts. In addition, an emulator allows PC software to be run, providing the bridge between the home and the office. The Learning Curve now retails for 399 pounds including VAT.
