Computers for Schools '93 ------------------------- The following is an extract from a letter to Headteachers from T P Leahy of Tesco Stores plc. 'Following the tremendous success of the "Computers for Schools" initiative last year, Tesco has decided to run the scheme again. In 1992 schools nationwide received more than 13,000 items of equipment, including over 3,000 computers, through the scheme. This year the promotion is even longer, running for twelve weeks, which will enable your school to collect even more vouchers, and so obtain more equipment than last year. From Monday 1st March until Sunday 23rd May, Tesco customers will receive one "Computer Voucher" for every #25 spent in any Tesco store. These vouchers can be exchanged for computers and software, when collected by individual schools. The range of computer hardware has been widened without increasing the cost to schools in numbers of vouchers required and, this year, includes selected special needs equipment. Acorn is again the exclusive supplier for this scheme. Enclosed ...' Catalogues are being distributed to 12,000+ schools as I write. The general helpline for "Computers for Schools" is 071 580 9370. Schools that want a pack, but haven't received one, by, say, the end of the week, should ring that number. Watch out for the Press and TV adverts beginning at the end of this month.
