New versions of the standard RISC iX programs "as" and "xterm" are 
available from a number of sources.  The reasons for this release are: 

1)  As now understands .stab directives, which allows it to support 
    debugging information produced by GCC. 

2)  Xterm has had a well-publicised security loophole closed. 

These new binaries are available: 

1)  Via ftp from acorn.acorn.co.uk, directory pub/riscix. 

2)  From Acorn Customer Services. 

3)  From Granada Microcare. 

I have also sent a copy to Albert Koelmans for inclusion on the 
Newcastle mail server.
