Computer Concepts protected their Impression DTP and Artworks graphics packages with dongles to prevent software piracy. The dongle plugged into the parallel port with a pass-thru for the printer. Obviously if you had several products with dongle it would be very inconvenient ad they could stick out for 6 or more inches from the back of you Archimedes.

In 1996 new versions were launched with out the dongle. If you have an earlier version try and get an upgrade to the de-dongled version!
