The Stuart Tyrrell Developments Vpod is a video expansion card for Risc OS 6 (see RISCOS Ltd ). It is designed to make use of the modularisation of the RISC OS video drivers which allows an alternative to the standard VIDC. The video chip is an SM500-series device with 32MB on board VRAM. It enables large, colourful, high resolution dispays, e/g/ 1680x1050 in 16 million colours displays.

I bought one at the 2009 Wakefield RISC OS computer show and have installed it in my Risc PC with RISC OS 6.16. It was simple to install and worked first time. I now have a 1280 x 1024 screen in 16million colours. on an Idek MF8617 monitor. When I benchmarked the RiscPC using !Sick I found another benefit of the Vpod; there is no performance degradation between a 800 x 600 256 colour screen and a 1280 x 1024 x 16 million colour screen.
