The A5000 shipped with either 1MB or 2MB RAM on the motherboard and the 1MB could be upgraded to 2MB by adding additional memory on the motherboard. Upgrading from 2MB to 4MB required an daughterboard with the additional memory connected to the memory expansion connector on the front left of the motherboard. Upgrading beyond 4MB was more complex as additional MEMC was required.
